Blue Bay Construction prides itself on our work with sub-contractors that are overlooked, that are small businesses and those that have minority interests or are disadvantaged. We recognize the State of Texas’ effort in this respect, using Historically Underutilized Businesses or HUBs which are mostly comprised of these business interests. We find ourselves at a particular advantage in that we are able to completely subcontract labor and supply to these groups while we work the managerial and administrative phases that must go with each project we undertake. As a small business ourselves we understand the challenges that are faced by our peers and look for ways to create active participation within the community.
Our age also puts us as a particular advantage because we do not close ourselves off to the mutually beneficial opportunities that lie within the MBE, WBE, AABE and the SBE communities: a wealth of talent and entrepreneurship, not to mention flexibility and industriousness that goes with having to compete in such a vast and diverse industry.
We look for opportunities with sub-contractors and suppliers that are close in proximity to our projects in an effort to create a network of partnerships that are localized. We believe in energizing local business so that they play a part in the built environment. These businesses are vetted through a vigorous process that also allows them to tell us about their business and how the serve their locality. We pursue an effort to involve as many underutilized, small and minority/women owned businesses because we are in line with the idea that they will give their best and will relate to our values of quality and efficiency.
Our chosen Sub-Contractors are to be qualified and certified in their fields and trade by their governing associations and are backed by at least 5 years of experience. They are required to follow our policies and that of our project and owners on safety and quality. Their proven experience gives us the necessary comfort to manage the project knowing that our sub-contractors share our passion for efficiency and quality work.
